Something that is missing from a lot of blogs is the acknowledgement of contact lenses, i guess if you don't wear them you don't know anything about them but if you are new to wearing them there is a lot to learn and things you need to know. I have been wearing contacts for over a year and a half and it has made my life so much easier. So i am going to tell you a few things i have learnt over this year which will hopefully help you with your new contacts or the possibility of buying them.
I know a lot of people who have tried contacts but they can't get past the idea of putting it in their eye and their finger going near their eye. I am not one of those people, i do not care about going near my eye and you get very used to it wearing contacts everyday. At first it is scary wearing contacts, when i had my first appointment about wearing them and i had to try to put them in by myself they had to send me away because my hands were shaking so much because i had the great idea of having a massive cup of coffee before i went. I would advice not doing this, the opticians didn't like it much. At first it took me half an hour to put my contacts in by myself so don't panic if you are new to contacts and it takes you a while to get the hang of it, i'm still not used to them now and i've been wearing them for a year and a half.
Personally i wear monthly contacts but recently i did try daily contacts and to be honest i prefer my monthly ones. Firstly they are much cheaper as you do not need as many pairs of contacts. My contacts have a blue tint which makes them easier to see but the blue is undetectable on the eye whereas the daily ones were clear which made them harder to work with but most importantly after one wear they have to be thrown away which i think is a massive waste and if you only wear them for a short time it is a waste of money.
Personally i feel that monthlys allow me a bit more freedom as you wear the same pair for a month. However that being said there are downsides to monthly ones. You have to keep track of when they need to be changed every month which i never do and i end up wearing them for longer than recommended which is bad for your eyes. Also you have to make sure to take good care of them because as i said they have to last a month, so cleaning your hands every time you go near them and making sure to sure the solution and stuff.
Overall i prefer contacts to glasses as they make life that little bit easier, especially when it is raining and when your watching 3D films but picking the right ones can be hard. I purely picked on price because i was a student at the time and money was an issue for me. I have heard since i picked that daily contacts are worse for your eyes, this was said by my mum so it did not come from a professional but apparently they dry out your eyes more so be wary.
I hope this has helped if you were thinking about getting contacts and didn't know anything about them. I knew very little about contacts before i got them but my mum was really helpful with tips as she has been using them for years. It really comes down to how responsible you are and how good you are at looking after things. Contacts are nothing to be scared off and you don't even notice them when they are on your eyes.
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and i will answer them all.
