Atmospheric is the best way to describe the day. Not a breath of wind and , inevitably, the mists of autumn have enveloped us. It's still a little muggy, many still in their summer clothing, not so here. Warm knitted socks are back on, along with cosy cords and warm cardigans.
It's the sort of weather that the English relish. Good for the complexion and all that twaddle. A gentle drizzle that is annoying to drive in, with wipers trying to make their mind up. On, off, on, off.
Once I returned from a weekly shop the lure of the mist coaxed me down to the beach. No tide, just damp puddles with seaweed strewn colourfully about. The colours almost more intense in the muted light. Gulls pecked around in the rocks. Boats sat marooned on land not a drop of water in sight. The air was redolent with brine and the rich aroma coming from the wrack. Above me a group were happily playing their game of petanque, oblivious to the elements.
Back in the garden droplets of water highlighted beauty in the simplest leaf or flower. Spiders webs glistened with their added jewels. A spider ignoring the comings and goings.
Now a little bit of cake making in the kitchen before catching up on a few magazines. We are lucky to have them for free on an app called Pressreader. Our local library has added them as part of their free service. We are certainly blessed. I wonder if your local library does the same? See you tomorrow.
