| This church, built in Gothic style in 1876-7, replaced the original wooden church built in 1839. The stone church architects were Gavillais and Thompson of Barrie, Ontario. Captain Tom Sibbald supervised the building of the church and local craftsmen did the actual building. The gargoyles are a symbols of evil being expelled by the Gospel. The gargoyles (in this case rams' heads) are used as water spouts. |
