These are not your mother’s French Fries, these are fries served in paper cones varying in size from small to jumbo served with a variety of sauces to tempt any palate. They are not precooked, they are cooked to order, so don’t try to rush the process. For the neophyte, there is ketchup, mayo, or malt vinegar. For the adventurous, there is Cajun ketchup and garlic lovers. For the truly daring, why not Indonesian peanut sauce and cilantro pesto. You can order one or more and really go for it. The sauces are $1 so go as crazy as you want. If you want to try a Canadian favorite, you can order poutine with a variety of tasty toppings or the more American cheese fries.
You can take your fries and run or you can sit at one of the benches along the wall that have holes in them to hold your cone. Since it was raining we took our jumbo cone, bottle of water, and two sauces and sat down to feast on our treasure. It was worth every carb-loaded bite.
The fries were perfectly cooked, crispy on out outside and soft inside with no oily after taste. We dipped into the Indonesian peanut sauce, which is a perfect foil for the salted fries and plain mayo, that Belgian favorite. Of all the really delicious food we had in Vancouver, this is the one place I would definitely have to return to. I actually wish they delivered. For Fritz head to Davie Street.
